Announcing lower pricing and monthly plans

This post was published in 2017, and Postmark’s pricing has changed since. Please check out our pricing page for the most up-to-date pricing info.

We’re making an exciting change to Postmark’s pricing! Postmark now offers monthly plans instead of credits, and the new plans will likely save you money. More importantly, if the new pricing doesn’t save you money, nothing changes. You’re grandfathered. You can continue using credits, and your pricing doesn’t change a bit unless you want it to.

Check out our simple pricing calculator to see how much you’d pay.

To get an idea of the kind of savings we’re talking about, here’s a quick comparison of our old and new pricing:

Monthly Volume Old Cost New Cost Savings
10,000 $15.00 $10.00 33%
50,000 $75.00 $50.00 33%

Why monthly plans? #

When we launched Postmark, we chose a credit-based model because it seemed the most simple. $1.50/thousand emails—that was it. But as things change, so did our pricing model. Ultimately we ended up with a credits-based pricing model that encouraged prepaying for larger volumes of emails to save money.

Most of you pay for email once a month, while some of you prepay large sums to get a better deal. We wanted to address that and are really excited about the consistency and predictability this pricing model will offer you. We hope that it will help more of you take advantage of great delivery at a lower rate.

How can I switch? #

If the new pricing is cheaper for you, or if you’d just rather pay monthly instead of using credits, the process to switch is simple, and we’ve written a detailed help document covering the process for switching to monthly plans. If you have existing credits, you can either wait to switch until those credits run out, or you can switch now, and we’ll convert your remaining credits into an account balance that can be applied to your future monthly payments.

When you go through the process, we’ll run the numbers and show you the conversion balance before you decide whether to convert. The only catch is that free credits won’t be converted to an account balance, but you don’t have to convert your account right away. You can continue using those free credits until they run out and switch after that.

The same great deliverability and support #

Unless you want to switch to monthly plans, nothing changes. Even then, only the pricing will change. We’re not making any changes to our quality of delivery or customer support. No matter how you choose to pay, you can remain entirely confident that we’ll continue providing the best delivery and customer support around. For us, delivery and support aren’t opportunities for upcharges. They’re an inseparable piece of our responsibility to you as an email service provider.

Have questions? Let us know. #

We know pricing changes can can be concerning, so we’ve put together some help documents about the changes and how to make the transition if you’d like to read more about it:

Of course, if you have questions about the new pricing and whether you should stick with your existing credits or convert your account to paying monthly, we’re happy to help. Our success team is standing by. Just email support.
