Coming soon: Custom activity retention times

By default, Postmark stores message content and activity data for 45 days. Would you like to keep your insights for longer? Or shorter? Either way, our new retention add-on will help you customize your data retention settings to your needs.

If you ever wondered if there's a way to adjust how long Postmark stores messages and activity insights, you're not alone. We diligently keep track of customer requests — and providing a way to customize your retention settings is one of the most popular feature requests.

So we're excited to share that really soon, when you ask us about adjusting retention times we'll be able to say: "Yes, you can absolutely adjust how long Postmark stores your data!" We'll continue to store messages and activity logs for 45 days by default (just like we do today), but with our Custom Activity Retention Add-on, you'll be able to pick a retention time that works best for you.

👀 Sneak preview: Decide how long Postmark will store activity data and message content

With this new add-on, you have full control over how long we keep message content and activity data in your Postmark account. You can:

  • Increase your data retention to up to a year. Maybe you're delivering digital goods via email and need to keep proof that you actually sent those emails. Or your support team would love deeper visibility into past email activity. Whatever your use case, setting longer retention time will help with troubleshooting, record-keeping, and compliance.
  • Decrease your data retention and make sure Postmark will purge all customer data after 7 or 28 days. This is a great option for all senders who frequently deal with DSR requests under GDPR.

Our engineers are still working on the implementation and testing of this new feature (thanks for all your hard work Jens, Mariusz, and Jeremy! 💛) but if you're as excited about this new feature as we are, leave your email below and we'll send you a note as soon as the add-on becomes available.

And if you have any thoughts or feedback as we polish this up, please let us know as well.
