Tax-Free Exemptions
For U.S. customers who qualify for tax exemption.
What does tax exempt mean?
Being tax exempt means you are not required to pay sales tax due to your status or purpose. This usually applies to:
Nonprofit organizations
Government agencies
Educational institutions
Businesses purchasing items for resale
Each U.S. state has its own rules. To be recognized as tax exempt, you’ll need to provide an official exemption certificate issued by your state’s department of revenue.
How Postmark handles tax collection
U.S. customers: Sales tax is charged unless we have a valid exemption certificate on file.
International customers: We do not charge VAT or other international taxes.
Location matters: Tax is based on your credit card’s billing address. For example, if your billing address is in the U.S., U.S. tax applies—even if you’re physically located elsewhere.
How to request tax exemption
If you qualify, please reach out to our support team with your exemption certificate. Our billing team will review and apply the exemption to your account once it’s verified.
